Hapkido
FLEXX Fitness finds itself in a unique position of being able to offer the Korean Martial Art of self defense known as HAPKIDO.
Hapkido has ancient roots in the martial art of HWARANG DO and is considered a soft style of martial art as opposed to the hard styles that practice the use of force against force. It is a style that can be practiced throughout a lifetime as our students are in their 60's, 70's and 80's. It incorporates stand up and ground grappling, striking, throwing, falling and defense against weapons. Hapkido provides complete physical conditioning, improving balance, posture, flexibility, timing, joint strength, muscle tone, quickness and most importantly confidence through mental and physical discipline.
The style taught at Flexx Fitness was developed by Grandmaster Cha Sok Park, who was one of the original students of the founder of modern HAPKIDO, Supreme Grandmaster Choi, Young-Sool.
Grandmaster Ron Boykin was Grandmaster Park's senior student and went on to teach at his own school in Arlington, VA. Grandmaster Ron Boykin holds a 7th degree black belt in Hapkido as well as a 6th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 4th degree black belt in Gumdo. He has studied in Korea and has demonstrated HAPKIDO in many parts of the world. He is currently the highest ranking and most senior Hapkido Grandmaster in America for Grandmaster Park's style of Hapkido.
