ABOUT HAPKIDO:

Hapkido has ancient roots in the martial art of HWRANG DO and is considered a soft style of martial arts as opposed to the hard styles that practice the use of force against force. It is a style that can be practiced throughout a lifetime. It incorporates stand up and ground grappling, striking, throwing, falling, and defense against weapons. The style taught at the NSDA Hapkido Academy was developed by Grandmaster Cha Sok Park, who was one of the original students of the founder of modern Hapkido, Supreme Grandmaster Choi Young-Sool.


OUR INSTRUCTOR:

Grandmaster Ron Boykin was Grandmaster Park’s senior student and went on to teach at his own martial arts school in Arlington, VA before joining the NSDA Hapkido Academy hosted at Flexx Fitness. He holds a 7th degree black belt in Hapkido, as well as a 6th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and 4th degree black belt in Gumdo. He has studied in Korea and has demonstrated Hapkido in many parts of the world. He is also the highest ranking and most senior Hapkido Grandmaster in America for Grandmaster Park’s style of Hapkido.

Can I come watch a session for free?

Yes. Please call to let us know you are coming. We’ll happily answer your questions as you watch a class.

How much does it cost?

Please call for the latest price. The cost of the class is paid monthly to our host facility, Flexx Fitness. A one-time uniform fee is also paid to the instructor and if you decide to test for a belt with the approval of your instructor, there will be a modest testing fee to cover supplies, certificates, new belts, etc.

Can kids or teenagers join the class?

Since Hapkido involves joint locks and techniques requiring physical maturity, our classes are limited to adults age 18+.

Do I have to be physically fit to join?

No. An advantage of Hapkido is it will help you get in shape.
